Welcome to Celtic Dreams at celticdreams.biz
This website has been set up to introduce you to the
world of Dublin born Artist/Designer Teresa O'Neill and to give you an
opportunity to view some of her work.
Teresa is a full time self-employed artist and designer,
who exhibits and sells her work regularly at home and aboard. She was born
in 1977. She is a graduate of the National College of Art & Design in
Thomas Street, Dublin and was awarded her degree in textile design
(specializing in printed textiles)in 2000. It was during this time that
Teresa developed her ongoing passion for drawing.
In that same year Teresa proved her ability in her chosen
area of expertise by winning a prestigious international Student Design
Award run by the Royal Society of Arts in London. Her design for an
innovative new textile product for cars won her a £6,000.00 attachment award
which gave her the opportunity to work as an in-house textile designer with
automotive textile company "Viktor Achter Ltd" in Burnley, England for 10
months. Here she developed and researched her interest in surface design
and product development.
Returning to Dublin in 2001, Teresa began focusing on her
own work. And in 2003 she held her first solo exhibition of drawings and
art pieces in her home town of Lucan. This event was a major success and
gained immense interest and publication.
In addition to painting in her studio at home in Dublin,
she teaches drawing & painting part-time to children and adults of all
ages.
Teresa possess a personal love for drawing (in any media)
in it's own right. Having come from a background of design skills she sees
drawing as the most important element of any design skill. Teresa works in
many different ways and mediums, and believes that as an artist it is
important to experiment as much as possible, to find new inspiration for
work. She paints in acrylics, but you will find many of her pieces are in
mix media, with lots of surface texture. The texture and the imagery
reflects her textile background, a lot of the time the painting looks like
fabric. She also enjoys working in pen and ink and with strong bright
colours in mix media abstract paintings. Gestural marks and influences from
Chinese and Japanese art is evident in Teresa's work alongside Celtic
themes. Her subjects include, flowers, landscapes i.e. gardens, beach, and
abstract compositions. Her style is both fresh and gestural.
Teresa has produced a number of works some of which are
displayed on this website. She hopes that you enjoy and appreciate her
work.
